This document is an outline of the new features that are being rolled out on CloudRecon portal in May 2021. Customers will be able to use this document as a guide to leverage the benefits of these new features.
This document is to be used as a reference with target audience which includes company internal personnel, customers, partners.
Use case: CloudRecon will now be able to recommend File Storage and Blob storage based on the Storage type(DAS, NAS, SAN) and based on the server workload type(Backup server, File server).
CloudRecon now has three sections in storage category and will recommend the same for Azure, based on below
CloudRecon now will also recommend Blob Storage for Backup server and File Storage for File server and will conclude the storage cost accordingly.
Note: If the on prem inventory would have any non-SQL server with used storage> 5TB, CloudRecon will by default recommend Blob Storage in Azure.
You can apply Storage marking manually from the Lift&Shift report itself simply by navigating to the “Blob Storage” or “File Storage” section and choose the “OnPremiseStorageType” as shown below.
1. Update Storage Info- You can also make storage selection marking in bulk by marking the same on a template which you can download from the portal itself and upload the same. This will then reflect the storage selection you applied on the portal.
To do this navigate to the Missing/Update Info-> UpdateVMStorage. Download the template as Step1 and apply the marking on the template and then upload the same under Step 2 as shown below.
2. Update Server Workload Info- You can also update the server workload info and choose if your server workload is a Backup Server or File Server by applying the marking in the template which you can download by navigating to Missing/Update Info-> UpdateVMWorkload. Upload the template after applying the marking under Step2 as shown below.
After analysis, this pricing will be reflected under Azure Cost Summary in Lift&Shift IaaS, MLS, RI and PaaS-SQL report as shown below. So now Azure Storage Cost summary under Lift&Shift will have File Storage and Blob Storage cost along with Managed disk cost.
Use Case: Using this feature customer will be able to reset the Other Services pricing under the Lift&Shift. This way you can restore the default pricing even if you perform some modifications on the numbers.
You can now edit the price for Other Services and click on Reset button to flip back to the original default price recommended by CloudRecon.
Use Case: Customer will be able to apply region and currency settings to an inventory and freeze it using this feature.
You can now apply inventory wise region or currency settings by auto freezing the region and currency changes and the same will not get reverted if you switch to any other inventory.
Once you go back to your inventory you will find the last applied region and currency settings.
Use Case: In case of Premium Disk CloudRecon will now recommend 1 Year RI for Managed disk, only in the case of P30 and above disk size.
